Are you looking for sinus infection relief? The pressure and headaches are unbearable and you’re wondering how to heal your sinus infection naturally? You’ve come to the right place because I want to share which remedies and essential oils I have used to clear up my sinus infection within 3-4 days.
Oh the pain of a sinus infection! You just want to get in bed, pull up the covers and be left alone to sleep for days. (Or at least that’s how I’ve felt when I had sinus pressure and headaches.)
The first time I ever got a sinus infection I googled to see how long it would last and was not happy with the answer I found…1-2 weeks. This was not acceptable. I knew there had to be a faster way to get some relief.
And while I don’t have anything against going to the doctor or taking medications, I knew there had to be a more natural way to to get rid of my horrid sinus infection. Enter my family who are the gurus on all things natural. They gave me some great advice and once I put their recommendations into practice my sinus infection pressure and headaches were gone within a 3-4 days. I’m thinking that’s a lot better than 1-2 weeks, don’t you?!
And that, my friend, is why I’m here today. I found quick, natural relief and can’t keep it to myself. The next time you get a sinus infection…and I hope that’s never…try these tips and tricks that worked for me.
1. DoTERRA Deep Blue Rub
This rub is pure magic! Rub a tiny bit on your cheeks*, forehead and even neck and wait for the tingling sensation. Don’t worry, the tingling is just essential oils working their magic and it will go away after a few minutes…along with the sinus pressure.
How Often: When I’ve had sinus infections I put the Deep Blue Rub on my cheeks every 1-2 hours, as needed.
*Note: Keep the rub away from your eyes! If you do happen to get some in your eyes, rinse it out with a carrier oil (fractionated coconut oil, olive oil, etc.) DO NOT rinse your eye out with water as this will just make it worse. Also, I don’t recommend putting glasses on when you have the Deep Blue Rub on your cheeks because the vapors may get into your eye and cause pain.
**If you don’t have a DoTERRA rep comment below and I’ll hook you up with the girl I use. She’s is an awesome teacher!
2. Peppermint Essential Oil
Place one drop on your tongue, and press your tongue to the roof of your mouth. This will help open up your airways, clear mucus and reduce congestion from your sinus infection.
How Often: I put the peppermint oil on my tongue every 2-3 hours.
3. Essential Oil Blend
Place 2 drops each of lemon, lavender and peppermint oil in a capsule and take by mouth. When combined, these oils work together to promote respiratory health.
*Not all essential oils are created equally. Make sure that whatever brand of oils you use can be taken internally. And if you don’t have an oils person comment below and I’ll hook you up with the best girl I know!
You can also diffuse this same blend of oils in your diffuser.
How Often: I took the essential oil blend by mouth every 4 hours and diffused all day.
4. Allerplex
These whole food supplement capsules pack a punch and my brother-in-law swears by them and even takes them regularly to keep his allergy flare-ups at bay.
How Often: I took 3 capsules at each meal.
This is key!
After a few days of using the rub, essential oils, and taking the Allerplex you’ll begin to feel better, which is exactly what we want! But if you’re like me you’ll think you can stop everything cold turkey. Please do not do this.
The first time I tried this natural method I stopped everything cold turkey and the sinus infection flared back up. I don’t want this for you! Instead I want you to slowly wean yourself off of everything. Start by removing the peppermint oil on your tongue one day, a few days later remove the Deep Blue Rub, etc.
Do I really need to do all of this?
Well, friend, I can’t tell you what to or not to do. I’m simply sharing what worked for me.
What I can share is that when you have 3-4 great things working together a beautiful thing called synergy happens. They work together as a team and pack a much bigger punch than just 1 of these things could do.
Whether you try one or all of these, I hope that you will find fast relief for your sinus infection.
