Last week I decided to make corn on the cob in the cooler. I’ve seen this recipe on Pinterest so I figured I’d give it a try. After all, my family was going to be my guinea pigs. If this recipe was going to flop, I’d rather it flop on them than anyone else. (Is that bad?)
Kroger had corn on the cob on sale 6/$2. This price wasn’t bad at all, especially considering how much it is to buy frozen corn on the cob!
And if you’ve never shucked corn before, it’s super easy. I do recommend that you to do this outside because the hairs will get all over the place if you don’t.
Corn on the Cob in the Husk
Shuck your corn (I used 12 ears of corn) and place in a clean cooler. Pour two large pots full of boiling water on top of the corn and let sit for 30 minutes before you’re ready to eat. (Depending on how much corn you’re going to cook, you may need more boiling water.) Yes, that’s all you have to do!
A few my family members were non-believers and didn’t think it would cook the corn, but it did. In fact, five hours later when we left our shindig, the corn (which was still in the water in the cooler) was still hot. This is perfect for large gatherings or get-togethers where you might need to keep your corn warm for a while.
I’ll definitely be using this recipe again!
