10 Easter Bible Verses Kids Can Easily Understand

Here are some kid-friendly verses that help children learn who Jesus is, why He came, and what Easter is all about. These verses are short, simple, and easy to memorize. Under each verse, you’ll find a gentle explanation to help you talk about it with your kids.

1. John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

This verse tells us how much God loves every single person. Easter reminds us that Jesus came because God wanted to be with us forever.

2. Matthew 28:6

He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.

Jesus didn’t stay in the tomb — He came back to life. That’s why Easter is such a happy day to celebrate.

3. John 11:25a

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life.”

Jesus is the one who gives us life that never ends. Easter shows us that even death can’t stop God’s power.

4. Romans 5:8

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Jesus loves us so much that He chose to die for us, even when we mess up. Easter reminds us that God’s love never goes away.

5. Luke 24:6–7

He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ”

Jesus told His friends this would happen before it did. When they saw the empty tomb, they learned that God always keeps His promises.

6. 1 John 4:19

We love because He first loved us.

God loved us first, before we ever loved Him back. Easter is a reminder of where real love begins.

7. 1 Corinthians 15:3a–4

Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

This verse tells the Easter story in a simple way. Jesus died, was buried, and came back to life so we could be forgiven and have new life.

8. Isaiah 53:5

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

This verse helps us understand that Jesus took our place. He did that because He loves us and wants us to have peace with God.

9. John 14:6

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Jesus is the one who shows us how to know God and follow Him. Easter reminds us that Jesus made a way for us to be close to God.

10. Mark 16:15

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
