Last night at church we learned about adoption care! It was a unique service and I truly enjoyed it. There are so many ways to help children in need: foster parenting, adoption, mentoring and much more! Trent and I aren’t quite ready to adopt or be foster parents but there’s definitely a need and something we can be in prayer about.
After the service I saw some dear friends who, years ago, were like foster parents to me after my first husband left me. (Wow, even to this day those words are hard to say! Read a bit of my story here.) David and Vicky came alongside me and walked with me during a dark time and I’ll be forever grateful to them for their love and support.
Even to this day I remember hard conversations that I had with David and Vicky. Man, what would I have done without them? They were truly angels sent from God to point me down the right paths, listen when I needed someone to talk, cry or laugh with, and simply be there for me. THANK YOU David and Vicky!
You may be like my dear friends and you’re walking with someone down a dark road. Whether you know it or not, you’re making a huge impact on their life, and while you may not see the effects of your efforts here on Earth, I have no doubt that you’ll be rewarded in Heaven! Helping others can definitely be draining but it’s definitely worth it. So, no matter what type of foster parent you may be, keep at it! We’re called to help each other!
I’ll leave you with this verse: II Corinthians 1:3-4, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.”
