Whether you’re working on building up your emergency fund (like me and Trent), working your way out of debt or just trying to make ends meet with your day-to-day finances, wouldn’t you agree that it’s important to have some inspiration to keep going? If we don’t have financial inspiration there’s really nothing to keep us motivated and we’ll give up quickly!
Today I thought it might be fun to share a few of my financial inspirations:
Seeing Others Winning
No, I don’t mean winning the lottery! What I mean by seeing others winning is watching a work for months or years towards one of their financial goals and then they finally get there! I’m so inspired because, in some weird way, it makes the thought of reaching my financial goals “realistic” – it really is possible to save 6 months emergency fund, pay off your mortgage or have a college fund for your kids!
Listening to Dave Ramsey
It may sound cheesy to you but I love listening to Dave Ramsey’s radio show. I’m a huge fan because I’ve been following his “plan” since I was a teenager! Whether he’s giving advice to someone who’s scared, giving someone a hard time for something crazy that they’ve done/are doing (Hey, we’ve all been there! It’s called stupid tax!), or cheering with someone who’s met a goal, I’m always inspired when I listen to Dave!
Looking Back at Where I’ve Been
It’s hard to imagine that just a little over 10 years ago I was working two-three jobs just to make ends meet. As I look back at where God has brought me from, and remember just how little I had at the time, it not only makes me thankful for everything that I have but it gives me inspiration and helps me push towards my goals! God was so faithful to provide for my every need, and many of my wants!
When you’re feeling down in the dumps and like you can’t go any farther, just think about the bills that you’ve already paid or look at how much you’ve already saved. Hopefully that will inspire you to push forward!
Dreaming of Future Freedom
When Trent and I were working on paying off our mortgage we would dream about what we would do with the “extra money” from the house payment once it was freed up! That inspired us to keep going and cut every corner possible – and let me tell you, it was worth it! No matter what goal you’re working towards think about the financial freedom you will have once you get there. Go ahead, inspire yourself!
What’s your financial inspiration?
