Last week Trent and I had the privilege of visiting Gaston’s White River Resort in Lakeview, Arkansas! When I learned that we were headed to Gastons I was so very excited. This was our second visit but I was just as excited as if it were the first visit! Gaston’s is such a beautiful place – how could you not want to visit again and again?
You’ll even find a grass landing field if you want to fly in for the day! On the weekends you’re likely to see quite a few planes, especially on Sundays as guests visit to have brunch at Gaston’s Restaurant!
The restaurant (the brown building on the right) overlooks the beautiful White River. The dining room has a collection of old tools, antiques, and historic photography. You’ll have a blast checking out the collection. That is, if you can take your eyes off of the river! You’ll not only enjoy the view from the river, but their food is top notch!
No matter the size of your party, Gaston’s has plenty of room to accommodate. From a bedroom for 2, cottage with a kitchen for 4 to 8, or their River Villa for up to 2o, there’s something for everyone!
This visit we stayed in their bedroom. If you’re visiting Gaston’s for a luxury suite with a jacuzzi, you’re headed to the wrong resort. The cozy bedroom had everything we needed, from a comfortable bed, to fluffy towels and even a coffee pot for Trent! The only negative I had was the internet service. Their rooms have high speed DSL and I found it to be super slow. That being said, if you’re headed to this beautiful resort, it’s not likely that you’ll be tucked in your room plunking away on your computer – the view is just too beautiful!
View From Our Room
One side of the room views this grassy area which is actually the landing field for planes. At night you’ll likely to see deer, geese or any number of animals here! (When we arrived, which was well after 11 p.m., we saw tons and tons of deer! What a welcoming site!)
The view from the other side of the room is the beautiful White River. Isn’t it just majestic? Breathe it in!
The White River
I sat overlooking the White River for the longest time! It was so serene and, honestly, I could have sat there all day. (This would be a fun place to bring your Eno Hammock!)
As you can see, it’s easy to get lost in the beauty of God’s creation here. I have no doubt that this is definitely a place where you can easily lose track of time, which is not a bad thing at all!
Whether you’re sitting and enjoying the view or reading your favorite book, you’ll likely hear the chirping of birds or the squirrels scampering in the trees! It’s also inevitable that you’ll see a few fisherman hoping to catch the big one for the day!
The next time you’re headed in or through Arkansas you definitely need to stop and visit Gaston’s White River Resort! This is a stop that you won’t regret!
