How can I ever trust anyone again?

I don’t know about you but I’ve asked myself that question before.

There’s no doubt about it, people are going to fail us and we’ll lose trust in them, but one thing I’ve learned on this journey of life is that there is one person I can always trust.

No matter who’s lied to or betrayed me, I can always trust the faithfulness and promises of God.

He’s walked with me through some dark valleys and that’s why these verses about trusting God mean so much to me! I pray they’ll be a blessing to you too.

Before we dive into the verses about trusting God, I’ve answered a few questions about who the Bible says we can trust and why we should trust God? You can check these out below or use the links to move straight to the verses.

What does the Bible say about who I can trust?

The bottom line is, we can put our full trust in the Lord. He has proven Himself trustworthy time and time again!

Jeremiah 17:7

But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.

It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans.

How can I trust God with all my heart?

I’m sure there’s a deep theological answer for this question and how we can know that we’re trusting God with our whole heart. But the fact is, I’m just a simple minded girl and things are much easier when explained in layman’s terms.

I believe you can know that you trust God with all your heart when you walk through hard times knowing that He has your best interest in mind. (Jeremiah 29:11)

  • Does that mean you fully understand what you’re going through? No.
  • Are there times when you doubt what you’re walking through is the best plan for your life? Yes.
  • Will there be moments when you feel angry at God for allowing you to walk this difficult road? Yes. (Ephesians 4:26 says, “In your anger do not sin.” I believe we’re allowed to be angry but it’s how we act and our attitude towards God that make the biggest difference when we are.)

Trusting God with all of your heart is hard, especially when you’re walking through a dark valley. But from my experience, being in the palm of His hand is the best place to be. Things may be difficult now but He’s going to see you through to the other side. (Isaiah 41:10)

Why is it important to trust God?

When an artist starts a new painting oftentimes it’s unclear what they’re painting. It can look distorted or even ugly. But when the painting is done it’s a beautiful masterpiece, one of a kind!

The same is true in your life.

God isn’t finished painting the masterpiece that is your life. What you see is the middle of His work. It looks distorted and ugly but He’s still working.

It’s important to trust God because He knows what the end result will be…the beautiful masterpiece, if you will.

Rest in the fact that He has big plans for your life and wants to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)
