I purchased the supplies for the necklaces at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores. (If you don’t have a Jo-Anns in your area, most craft stores carry them.) Not only do they have some great sales, quite frequently they offer 40% off one item coupons! When I shopped all of the jewelry supplies were 40% off so I didn’t have to use the 40% off coupon!
The necklace cord was $1.19 each and the pendants were $2.39 each. In all, these necklaces were $3.60 each!
There are different types and sizes of necklace cord so you can mix and match to your heart’s delight. I purchased the 18 inch long cords.
When choosing your pendant you will want to make sure that the opening goes sideways and not frontways. If it is frontways, when you place the necklace cord in the pendant it will hang sideways when you put it on. Also, you will need to make sure the opening on the pendant is big enough for the cord clasp.
(Personally, out of all the craft stores in my town, I thought Jo-Ann had the best selection of pendants. Shhh, don’t tell the other stores!)
Simply string the necklace cord through the pendant and you’re good to go. (If you’re right-handed you’ll want to put the clasp on the right side so that it will hang properly when you put it on. That is, unless you’re left-handed.)
You can buy some very high quality pendants and your friends will think you paid $10-$15 for your necklace! (Did I mention these make great gifts?)
I haven’t decided whether or not to keep these for myself or giving them away as gifts. After all, it sure was a lot of work picking out the pendants and putting them together. ;o)
