This DIY Leather Bookmark is a fun project to make. Much like the DIY Ribbon Bookmark, choosing the pendants is the hardest part of this project. Don’t you just love DIY crafts that don’t take a ton of work and look fabulous?
I did my shopping at Hobby Lobby when they were having a sale! I paid $2.23 for the supplies this bookmark and I also have a ton of cord and butterfly pendants to make more bookmarks! (Which is a fabulous reason why you should look for packages that have multiple pendants.)
The leather cord I purchased is 1 mm but you could easily use 2 mm if you’d like.
Cut your leather cord 18 inches long. Loop the cord through your large pendant and tie it (I tied mine so that the remaining cord that is cut will hang on the back side), pulling the cord tight to make sure that the pendant is secure.
On the opposite side of your cord, tie a knot about six inches from the top of your cord and place your smaller pendant on top of the knot. This knot will hold your pendant (my butterfly) in place.
Tie another knot above the small pendant. You’ll want to make sure that your pendant is snug before you tie the top knot. If you don’t, it won’t stay in place and will move around on the cord.
And there you have it, a super cool leather bookmark! Depending on the pendants you choose, you could definitely make this project masculine for the male reader in your life or on your gift list.
