“You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.” – Isaiah 26:3
Peace – Dictionary.com describes it as untroubled, tranquil or content. When you think about peace your shoulders relax and the tension goes away, if only for a moment. Peace is something that we all desire!
In the midst of heartbreaking moments, life-changing diagnosis’, and even situations we don’t understand, we search for peace. But what happens when the peace that we so desperately long for doesn’t come? What do we do now?
The second half of Isiah 26:3 says it all – trust. When we keep a steadfast gaze on the Lord and trust what He’s doing is the best thing for us, then peace will come. Don’t get me wrong, this doesn’t mean that we’ll understand what we’re going through, it just means that we have trust Him and His plan.
How do I know? Because He’s given me peace many times in the past, and I know that He’s faithful and will provide it for me (and you) in the future.
Even now as I’m walking through a situation I don’t understand, the Lord is reminding me to trust Him. He’s reminding me that He sees the bigger picture of my life. (I’m confident that if He revealed that bigger picture to me, my meager brain wouldn’t be able to fathom His awesome plan.)
I’m not going to pretend that life is easy, because it’s not. But I’m so thankful that we don’t have to walk this journey alone. The Lord’s promise to be with us is all throughout scripture. Here’s just one of those reminders, “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” – Deuteronomy 31:8
Be encouraged and know that peace will come!
