I’m so excited to share Every Woman’s Marriage by Shannon and Greg Ethridge with you. I recently finished a small group study that went through this wonderful book/workbook. Wow, this was a great study!
This book is not about how I can change my husband but about how I can change myself and be the wife that God has called me to be. If the truth be told, I can always think of ways that I’d like to change Trent but I rarely think about changing me. Every Woman’s Marriage asks the question, “Even if you firmly believe that 95 percent of the issues in your marriage are your husband’s fault, are you willing to focus on the 5 percent that you do have control over?”
Whether you have the best or worst marriage, I would encourage you to check out this book. Some of the ladies that were in my small group study have been married 25 years plus and they were able to share how much they gleaned from this awesome book.
From our expectations in marriage, to respect, fighting fair, sex, and much more, this book covers it all. Here are a few nuggets that I took away from this book!
“Men need to feel like heroes to their wives.”
“An overwhelming need to control is actually an outward manifestation of the inward insecurities we feel.”
“If a wife will trust her husband and follow him, even when she doesn’t necessarily agree with how he’s driving or where he’s taking her, he might just develop the courage or the desire to become the leader that she wants him to be.”
“If you want him to lead, you have to follow.”
“If your husband doesn’t feel that you respect him, there’s no way that you will be able to ignite joy in his heart.”
“Every time you try to alter, fix or improve your partner, you are sending him the message that he does not deserve to be loved for who he is.”
“I can’t put the burden of responsibility on my husband’s shoulders to be my emotional all in all. Only God can shoulder that burden.”
I highly recommend that you check out this book. In fact, Every Woman’s Marriage was so good that I’m ready to read it again!
