Waiting can be difficult. When you don't want to wait - that's what I'm talking through today!

After placing your order in the drive-thru at a fast food restaurant, you pull forward to pay, and then the cashier says, “I’m going to need you to pull forward and wait for your order.” If this has happened to you, you know how frustrating it can be.

We live in a fast paced society where we don’t want to wait. But the fact of the matter is, there are times when we don’t have a choice. We have to wait for test results, to hear back about that big promotion we put in for, when the traffic is backed up, or at the grocery store!

I read these words about waiting during my quiet time a few days ago:

[pullquote1 align=”center”]”Be content with a simple, quiet life. Instead of shaking the bushes – trying to make things happen – wait to see what I am doing. I am at work in many areas of your life long before you can discern results. Trust me by waiting patiently, accepting each moment as a gift from Me. When the time is right, you will see the results of my handiwork.” – Dear Jesus, Sarah Young[/pullquote1]

I have the hardest time waiting, and adding patience on top of that is nearly impossible. But even as I’ve had to wait throughout this life, the Lord has taught me that His timing is perfect. He sees the big picture and has the perfect plan! If I’m going to trust His plan, I must learn to wait patiently. Psalm 37:7a, “Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him.”

It’s likely that we’re all waiting for something. If you aren’t, you will be! As we learn to wait, won’t you join me in taking Psalm 27:14 to heart, “Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD“?
