Picture this. You’re on your way home and you realize that you need milk and bread. So, you run into the store and quickly grab your items. When you head up to the registers you realize that there’s only one register open and the person in front of you has a buggy full of groceries, and has coupons on top of that. You sigh to yourself because you know it’s going to take longer than you’d hoped.
I’m sure we’ve all been in the above scenario a time or two. So, this week I want to remind you to please be mindful of those behind you in line at the store. Even if there is more than one register open, let the person with a few items go ahead of you. This will make a world of difference to them, even if you can’t tell sometimes.
There have been times when I’ve told someone behind me that I have coupons so it might take a few minutes longer (I couldn’t let them go ahead of me because they’d already started scanning my items.) Generally, people are appreciative that you at least let them know. Sometimes they’ll go to another register and sometimes they won’t but at least they’re given the option beforehand. And, when they realize how many coupons I really have, they’ll remember the next time someone tells them. ;o)
Also, if you’re doing multiple transactions and someone gets in line behind you, please let them go in front of you after you’ve completed your first transaction. Be courteous and, as the golden rule states, “do unto others as you’d have them do to you.”
